HIGH TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH CENTRE
FOR BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE - CAMPOBASSO
The High Technology Research Centre for Biomedical Science in Campobasso was conceived as a modern functional structure, designed to host overall 300 inpatient beds spread over a surface of approximately 170 sq m/ beds.
The architectural plan is structured in different spaces which are clearly recognizable and contain various functions: the main area developed on four levels, hosts all the services regarding diagnostics and treatment as well as general services; the two buildings which resemble a widened "V" dedicated to ward units and inserted symmetrically on the main area by pinpoint elements which gather the vertical connections: the lower buildings are dedicated to didactic activities and to the conference room.
The utmost attention during the planning stage was given to the eventual environmental impact (through an accurate study of the inclination of the soil and the interment of the lower levels of the main area) and the differentiation of entrances and routes regarding personnel and goods.
Conscious of the urban importance of such structure, led to the choice of an architectural solution characterized by the vast hall on two levels, an authentic "covered public square" a fragment of the city which coordinates the functioning of the entire hospital.
