"VILLA BUON RESPIRO" REHABILITATION CENTER
VITERBO - ITALY
Situated in an area of great environmental value on the hills which overlook the city of Viterbo, the facility will be destined to residential and partial residential rehabilitation activities for a complex variety of pathologies. Taking into consideration the particular nature of the location and the environmental and urban restrictions, we opted for a planivolumetric structure with a marked horizontal tendency in order to contain the impact on the surrounding environment.
The plan foresees the complex in three blocks, where the external ones that are curved are intended for the ward units whereas the central block, acting as a hinge between the two and covered by a tensile structured window houses the reception. All the areas that are intended for different diagnostics and treatment, as well as the general services have instead been placed in the two basement floors below. The particular curvilinear shape and the orientation of the two wings intended for the ward units guarantee all the patients' rooms provided with a balcony, the view of the valley below and of the green areas pertaining to the complex. The center also has a riding school used for riding therapy, which has been successfully put into practice, with enormous success for many years.
