BUILDING FOR UNIVERSITY ACTIVITIES
U.C.S.C. ROME
The complex has been designed to satisfy spatial and functional needs inherent to the didactic and research activities of the University.
The main objective of the plan was to adapt the building harmoniously in the surrounding landscape and to limit the environmental impact as much as possible; this was done by planning the building mainly horizontally, maintaining the height of the building well below the surrounding mastings and create a hanging roof garden.. The internal covered square represents the core of the entire complex: a double height space where laboratories and lecture rooms overlook and where relaxing areas and the cafe are located The facades interrupt the compactness, limiting the impact on the environment The decision to interrupt the ventilated facades in terracotta with large windows confers lightness to the building.
