"SANTA LUCIA " REHABILITATION CLINIC, SULMONA
Being a facility intended for rehabilitation, particular attention was not only given to functionality, economical fruition and management but also to the need of humanization finalized to give the complex a hotel and not a sanitary connotation to it.
A "star" like area plan is plainly evident, with quick, wayfinding towards the functional areas so as the users are not disorientated. The wards are organized in 20 bed units and arranged on the upper floors to guarantee an adequate level of privacy for the patients. All the services concerning diagnosis and treatment that require access to the territory have been located on the ground floor whereas on the basement floor there are areas destined for general purposes and hydrotherapy.
The entrance hall which you can reach crossing the wide external cantilever roof in steel mesh forms an axis where all the various functions are located and is at the same time the area where architectural attention, furnishing, and chromatic study have assumed a primary role, as this is where the users have their first contact with the Clinic.
Depending on the climatic conditions of the area, the will to give the complex maximum transparency is expressly evident in the hall; the structure opens outwards to allow the surrounding external environment to enter.
Selection of materials was made in the light of the specificity of the locality, the prevalence of certain elements and colors, but also taking into due consideration performance and maintenance features aside from the ability to maintain the characteristics in time. |
