NEW HOSPITAL VCO - VERBANO-CUSIO-OSSOLA
The plan regarding the New Hopital of Verbano-Cusio.Ossola is located in the vast grassy plain adjacent to the municipality of Piedimulera, located at the bottom of the Toce Valley, and surrounded by hills covered by woods. Major attention was given to the environment in order to ensure and reduce the impact of the structure and recover and maintain the environmental value. The "Ospedale delle Montagne" is represented as a single-block structured horizontally and integrated in a large park it. The completely covered glazed public square is the core of the complex and was the idea which guided the development of the plan. The departmental organization is favored by the construction of "arms" so-called departmental filters, that can facilitate the connection between all the ward units if necessary. The wards have been organized with six rods that open up like rays from the departmental filters that enclose the public square.
The buildings' structure forms ample external areas that offer users the possibility to have an open air break among flower beds and gazebos. The facades are environmentally compatible and the materials used are wood and stone whereas the roofing is in copper sheet whose movement recalls the surrounding mountains.. The use of alternative energy and technology for energy saving, complete the accurate study on the environmental impact. |
