GENERAL HOSPITAL OF VERSILIA - VIAREGGIO
The main challenge of the project was to confer the architectural structure to a valuable naturalistic surrounding and to a built environment without urban morphology. The project was principally developed horizontally, which maintained the height of the buildings well under that of the tall trees (18-20 meters) it was therefore identified as the most suitable connection with the pre-existent green environment.
The area plan is distinguished by the presence of two parallel buildings facing the main axis in the North-South direction and interconnected by four segments, these, acting as element spacers define three inner courtyards.
The connections house a large part of the horizontal and vertical links of the building and diversely for each floor distinct specific departmental and assistance areas.
This type of choice has permitted to obtain space continuity between homogeneous areas and functions and furthermore, considerable linearity and clarity in the links between the different interzones.
The hospital is immersed in maritime pines, which in some way through shapes have naval similarities such as the metal guardrails, the towers, the external air collectors etc...
